Wouldn't you appreciate a glass of cabernet while waiting for everyone else to board! Why not!
But first class flights to Brisbane can cost almost four times the coach fare, and it doesn't seem worth it for a short flight!
Then what?
Get upgraded!
Airlines usually upgrade when it’s their fault, if they overbook or there are operational disruptions, etc. in a way to make up for their mistakes. Frequent fliers and their staff are given more preference.
Some ways you can increase your odds of being upgraded are:
- Join the airlines royalty programme. In case of overbooking by the airlines, they will upgrade you first to first class flights to Dallas.
- Ask for an upgrade politely. Good behaviour pays.
- Dress appropriately to impress the airlines. Just wear something professional, and shows that you belong to first class.
- Reach the airport early. The early bird catches the worm.
- When the gate agent asks for people who are willing to give up their seat (in case it is overbooked), volunteer if you can be upgraded to the next first class flights to Canberra from UK.
- Travel solo to increase the chances of being singled out, to be upgraded.
- Travel during peak seasons. Only then there’s a chance of overbooking in economy or business class and also of that of up-gradation.
- Sit in a less desirable seat like next to a crying baby. If you’re lucky, the attendant will take pity on you and move you to first class.
- Check the arm-rest, recliner, tray table, seat belt, etc. If they are not in working conditions, you will be reassigned to first class flights to Dubai (maybe).
- Let the attendants know that it’s your special day, like birthday, honeymoon or anniversary. You might as well be offered a free drink, if not up-gradation.
All the best for that upgrade!
